JOHN BASKERVILLE

 

Horace’s Odes, Books I-III, were published in 23 BC, and Book IV in 13 BC. They consist of 103 poems on a wide range of subjects. In style, they were a deliberate imitation of earlier Greek forms enlisted to describe life in Rome during the reign of Augustus.
